Our Commitment to Your Privacy
What InJest collects, what it deliberately doesn't, and where your footage actually goes.

1. Overview
InJest is an offline-first Windows application. Ingest, checksum verification, local/NAS/cloud-sync-folder backup, the Library tab, and the Media Encoder all run entirely on your machine and never send your footage anywhere. The account system described below exists solely to sign you in (via Google) and manage your subscription, and has no connection to any cloud storage account.
2. Data We Collect
To operate sign-in, the free trial, and subscriptions, our backend stores:
- Account email, name, and avatar: received from Google Sign-In when you first sign in. InJest has no password of its own, there is nothing else to store for authentication.
- Subscription records: which tier you're subscribed to (Solo or Duo), billing cycle, and status (active, payment retrying, halted, or cancelled).
- Device ID and session records: a machine identifier used to enforce your tier's concurrent-device limit (how many devices can be signed in at once), to count trial usage, and to verify a device is genuine physical hardware before granting a free trial (to prevent trial abuse via virtual machines). It is not used to fingerprint you across unrelated services.
- Payment metadata: subscription and payment identifiers from Razorpay or Paddle, whichever processed your payment (see Payment Processing). We do not receive or store your card, UPI, or bank details.
3. Data We Deliberately Don't Collect
InJest does not upload your footage, thumbnails, metadata sidecars, shot logs, or project notes to any server as part of normal ingest, backup, browsing, or encoding. There is no telemetry on file contents. We never see or store a password, since sign-in is Google-only. The only data that leaves your machine is what's described in this policy: account/subscription data; cloud-synced backup traffic (handled entirely by your own cloud provider's sync client, not by InJest); or a P2P transfer you initiate.
4. Cloud Backup
InJest has no direct integration with any cloud provider for the backup feature: no API calls, no OAuth, no login, no account access of any kind. Cloud backup works by treating your cloud provider's desktop-sync folder (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Proton Drive) as an ordinary local backup destination, the same as a local drive or NAS share. InJest writes files into that folder on disk; your own sync client, running independently, is what actually uploads them to the cloud. InJest never authenticates against your cloud account and never reads, lists, deletes, or moves anything outside the folder you point it at.
5. Peer-to-Peer Transfer
Project transfer between two InJest installs is encrypted and direct, machine to machine, using the Noise Protocol's XX handshake. We do not operate a server that file contents pass through or are stored on during a transfer; a short connection code is only used to help the two machines find each other.
6. Payment Processing
Subscriptions are billed by Razorpay (customers in India) or Paddle (customers everywhere else), recurring monthly or yearly depending on the plan you choose. When you subscribe, your payment details (card, UPI, netbanking, or other local method) are handled directly by whichever of the two processed your payment, under its own privacy policy and PCI-compliant infrastructure. InJest's backend never receives or stores your card number, UPI ID, or bank credentials, only the resulting subscription and payment identifiers used to keep your account's access in sync with your billing status.
7. Data Retention
Account and subscription data is retained for as long as your account exists, so your subscription status stays accurate and your device sessions stay recognized. Payment records are kept as required for accounting and support purposes. You can request deletion of your account as described in Your Rights, subject to any records we're legally required to retain.
8. Your Rights
You can get a copy of the account data we hold about you any time from Settings > Account & Subscription in the app ("Download a copy of my account data"), it's emailed to you directly. To request that your account be deleted instead, email support@injest.app. Deleting your account cancels any subscription tied to it.
9. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change accordingly. Continued use of InJest after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
10. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to support@injest.app.
