Dual-Pass Checksum Verification
During the offload pass, InJest streams data from source media into memory, computing the source checksum in real-time. Immediately upon write completion, InJest performs an independent destination read-back pass to compute the written disk checksum. Only when the source checksum strictly matches the destination checksum is the file approved.
Atomic Temporary File Staging
Every incoming file is initially written under a staging extension (.injest-part), never the real filename. The rename to the final filename only happens after the destination hash has been independently verified against the source, using an atomic filesystem rename rather than a copy-then-delete.
Hardware Disconnect & Power Recovery
If an SD card is accidentally pulled or workstation power is lost mid-offload, no partial corrupt file ever bears a final filename. Re-running the same ingest picks up exactly where it left off: InJest checks each file against its own verification journal and only re-copies what wasn't already confirmed, so nothing gets duplicated or re-transferred unnecessarily.
Single-Read Multi-Destination Fan-Out
Reading the same SD card multiple times degrades NAND flash life and increases thermal throttling. InJest executes exactly 1 read pass per source sector, multiplexing the byte stream in RAM to write up to 4 destinations (NVMe, NAS, Cloud, Backup SSD) in parallel without bus saturation.
